We didn't go into the museum as we were pressed for time.
We were interested in seeing the rocks close up and stretching our legs.
Can't wait to go back and check out the museum when we have more time.
Phenomenal find. The Amerind is a very underrated museum that needs more love. It is a small, two story museum, with tons of artifacts from different tribes throughout the years. It also contains an art gallery with many works that you can buy.
It is mostly run by passionate volunteers, who are the nicest people that you can meet. I highly recommend giving this place a visit if you are anywhere within Cochise County.
12/2/02/23 Certainly very interesting concept and the items inside were interesting to look at. They didn't have displays. They had a book for you to go through instead of plaques identifying things but it was interesting and I don't regret going . Keep in mind it's $12 a person to enter. I'm not sure everyone will find it worth $12. You cannot take any photos inside. And it is not handicap friendly once you get inside. Even the restroom is not handicap friendly and I'm wondering if those are the reasons you can't take photos, but I also found it to be very dusty. They were cobwebs on the artwork. There was a Native American piece that you were able to see within just a couple of inches of your face and the cobwebs were everywhere. There was dust on the shelving and two women just sitting at the front. Chit-chatting the entire hour we were there. They did nothing but sit there and chit chat.
Very much worth the trip to Dragoon, AZ. Not far from Benson, Tucson, Tombstone. Very professional exhibits. Smithsonian quality artifacts. Beautiful desert grounds to stroll around. Educational exhibits upstairs about contemporary artists and community cultural activities. Art gallery next door with unparalleled ceramics and art for purchase. NO PHOTOS allowed. Bring water and food, no places nearby to eat. $10 senior tickets. Our library had free passes!
Very unique display of current & historic art & culture.
I toured the museum and loved the experience so much that I became a member. I recommend allowing several hours for the museum, and additional time to browse the art gallery.
I am really excited about the trails through the rock formations that will be open in October.
We really enjoyed the museum. The art galley is very limited on it's exhibits, although they were setting up 2 more rooms. We did not do the hiking trails but looked to be easy ones.
This is an incredible experience. Expertly curated and professionally presented.
The attention to detail and the crispness of the execution is both elegant and complementary to the experience. You can tell the teams that brought this together cared passionately about sharing their knowledge and inspiring others to delve and create their own experiences.
Photography is not allowed for the art, but I took a photo of the interactive table in the first jewelry exhibit. 6 activities for kids to adults to learn both design, creation, and methods.
There are so many things to like about the museum I could write a 2000 word essay, but please come here and see for yourself.
The Paquime exhibit is incredible.
The art gallery is decent, but the exhibit there that talks about the ranch and the founding family was fantastic.
The grounds are designed with huge space to sit and eat and rest, so bring coolers and blankets and enjoy the serene area.
100% will be back.
